Consultations

Consultations are the initial step for Laura in working with all families seeking her services or support. Consultations with parents can be in relation to a range of concerns they might have for their children including overall development, learning, social and emotional and behaviour. They are generally carried out with the parent(s), without the child/young person present taking up to 90 minutes. The aim of this initial consultation is to establish whether further assessment is necessary, signpost services and resources and/or provide some initial recommendations to support the child/young person. A brief written summary of consultation is provided and the fee for this consultation is €200. If it is felt that further assessment, screening or intervention with Laura is appropriate the fee for this will be outlined at this point.

Assessments

  • Complete Psychoeducational Assessment – cognitive assessment, attainments assessment, review of existing reports and liaison with school personnel- this includes diagnostic assessment for specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia and review assessments.
  • Developmental Assessment- assessment of cognitive ability/intellectual ability and adaptive skills (independence and everyday life skills)
  • Assessment of attainments- assessment of the child/young person’s current performance literacy and numeracy.
  • Screening assessments for social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (please note screening means that difficulties are highlighted and/or better understood but these assessments do not result in a diagnosis. They can be useful in clarifying the next steps and in supporting onward referral(s).
